I am a somewhat eclectic photographer living in St. John’s, Newfoundland.

Considering I am slow moving (handicapped) and tend to take my time setting up and such, I may as well slow the camera down to match my speed. Thus the slow shutter images.

With the ability to break my bones with relative ease, I live by my adopted motto: "Every step's a fuckin' adventure". (Thank the Deadwood bar keep for that).

A little history...

I first entered a darkroom when I was seven years old (1962). My father taught me much of what I know as he was a lifelong photographer on a professional (early on) and non-professional level later in his life. He spent a few years at the end of the second world war as a combat photographer (American) stationed here in Newfoundland.

There was a period where I didn’t touch a camera and then started it up again in the early 90's with my father’s push. Together we put together another darkroom doing both black and white and color processing. I put quite a few years into that venture and then digital came along. No more chemicals so the equipment was retired to the basement where it is to this day. I do threaten to start it up on occasions but haven’t yet. (Update: I am doing some film again (as of 2021) as I have built some 4*5's for winter entertainment). I also spent sometime programming graphic software at the start of my computer programming profession. It gave a great foundation in digital and the inclusion of my analogue knowledge topped it all off. I believe I am more of a technical photographer than artistic and have a somewhat eclectic taste in what I like to shoot. I will take on the odd commercial shoot but do not want to work at it full time as I enjoy it too much to want to pursue that aspect of it.

Hope you enjoy my sample of work here on Flickr.
