My first camera was a Zenit XP which I found lying in the road and made a great into to photography - especially when I used it underground for a brief spell of interest in cave photography.

Now my kit includes:

Canon EOS 5D Mk III 24-105 L IS, 24mm, 28mm, 35mm

Fujifilm X-T1

Fujifilm X-Pro 1

Fujifilm X-E1

Fujinon XF 14mm

Fujinon XF 27mm

Fujinon XF 35mm

Fujinon XF 18-55mm

The search of original work has diversified my interest into aerial perspectives taken from kites and balloons.

I've just spent the most enjoyable hour, or so, looking at Nick's photographs. They make such an inspiring collection! I've always been fascinated by the Polar Regions, but never been closer than 35000ft above them!! I'm now inspired to get to Antarctica and Greenland at least once in my life.... and to see the Northern Lights! When I look at these photographs, my initial reaction is: "Wow! Great light, great scenery, how did he get the shot?" etc, then it leads to "I wish I was there taking that photograph", before taking me deeper into the location: "I wonder how cold it it? Is it the middle of the night?.... or the middle of the day? What's it like having 24 hours of darkness?.... or daylight?....." When a photograph makes you think about things in this way, it is no longer just a photo, but something much greater. The fact that these images produce this reaction is a testament to Nick's ability as a photographer!

Nick's photostream is one of the genuinely most interesting that I’ve seen on Flickr. An amazing subject matter combined with a remarkable eye for a photo had instilled in me a new ambition to travel to Antarctica. Oh; and of course to do it with a Canon EOS-1D Mark II!!!
