Pretty average, family, retired. Photography is my way of staying sane. I started taking photos at around 7 or 8 years of age. My dad worked in Fleet Street and although he was not a professional photographer, he mixed with the darkroom staff and enjoyed photography himself. He always made a Kodak fold out bellows camera and a roll of B&W 120 film available to me on each family holiday and that's where the interest started.
I have used so many cameras over the years, from a Russian range finder (Zorki) in the early 70s through Pentax SLRs for most of my (slide) film days to the early digital bridge cameras and then Nikon DSLRs to the mirrorless I use today. I'm happy taking photos on anything, including the phone in my pocket. It's the moment you capture that counts. I enjoy photography because it is the one interest you can combine with just about anything else.
