____________
I am Nick Wilkinson from St Helens, Merseyside, United Kingdom.
Started with a Box Brownie at the age of five. I have always had a camera of some description. In the 1970s, I inherited a decent SLR system (Minolta SR-T 101) and photography became a hobby. I tapped into a limitless free supply of Ilford FP4 and AgfaScopix. Bought myself the Paterson Black & White Darkroom in a Box. Sold a picture of Willie Whitelaw that was spread over two pages of a magazine. Ended up being paid a not so princely six pounds and threw teddy out of the cot in regard to selling images.
In the 1980s, suffered aversion therapy for photography. Never used the darkroom again and was only permitted to take photographs on holiday. In 2002, bought a 2mp point and shoot.
In 2008, bought a DSLR and discovered that I was not as good as I remembered. Should have taken the Open University's T189 a year ago but eventually, thanks to Tesco vouchers...
Until 2012, I was the Public Relations Officer for 2 Company of the Merseyside Army Cadets. I have taken lots of photographs and was occasionally published in the local press and army publications.
I am a member of both the Merseyside Intervarsity Club and on Flickr the Intervarsity Photography Intervarsity Photography group.
I resolved to upload an image to Flickr each day. I am developing and becoming so much quicker with imaging software. It has been a really good idea that I recommend to everyone.
"I was, I say, a man of mild dispositions, of command of temper, and of an open, social, and cheerful humour, capable of attachment, but little susceptible of enmity; and of great moderation in all my passions." ( David Hume 1711-1776 )
Oh! Also, youthful and good looking.
____________
My photographs on Flickr are here for various reasons. Naturally, present are those with which I am really pleased but others accompany them. People know that I have taken pictures and wish to see friends and themselves. I wish to remember places, people and events. One of the more serious reasons is that I wish to record my progress with photo processing. The notes accompanying some of the photographs, I have found invaluable when a method has been forgotten. I hope that they are of use to others.
It is rewarding when comments are left. So, please, feel free to leave a few words.
Microsoft’s Internet Explorer distorts the colour. Mainly, photographs appear too red. Mozzilla Firefox does a much better job. View in Firefox to see something nearer to what I see on my screen.

For beautiful views without the exercise, take a look at Ailsa Seatter's Westray Walks.
War makes me weep and despair. Perversely, the greed and stupidity is fascinating. The following links draw together past and present.

The photo is the hunt, its the instinct of hunting without the desire to kill.
Its the hunt of angels.
You trial, you aim, you fire and a clic!
Instead of a dead man, you make him everlasting!

N.B. You may be curious about the letter box crop on many of my photographs. This is so they fit my TV screen. I torture unsuspecting visitors.
I tend to leave polarising filters on my lenses, only removing them in low light.
