My Blog: www.bellanoraphoto.blogspot.com

First off, I would love to say how grateful I am for all the people who have taken time to comment on all my photos. Your kind words are motivation to keep me posting. Your comments mean so much to me and inspire me to move forward.

My passion is photography. I am presently learning to capture light and all it's beauty. I have just recently figured out that photography is about light and what it does and how it is captured. I love natural light and try to do most of my shots with it. I don't like the look of flash, or at least haven't figured out how to use flash without getting that effect. I also have a passion for black and white images. To me there is so much more character to be found.

I believe that a B/W image reveals the soul of an image that people fail to recognize. The soul that is so often disguised by color.

I have recently found a new love of learning to photograph newborns, after having the experience with my grandaughter. To me a newborn is an amazing masterpiece from God, and I want to preserve this masterpiece and innocence to last throughout the years.

Anne Geddes has always been a favorite of mine. I have always shown off her work on calenders in my home. LOL!

She has become such an inspiration for me because I love how she handles the babies and she has such a respect and love for them. She has such a uniqueness in her photography that really reveals the emotional content which is my goal on learning to shoot newborns.

Photography literally means to “write with light”. Every day I am learning more about light, more about shadows, and more about how just the right balance of the two makes for a beautiful portrait. I believe it will be a lifelong quest to perfect this balance.

Some of my favorite quotes:

It is light that reveals, light that obscures, light that communicates. It is light I "listen"

to. The light late in the day has a distinct quality, as it fades toward the darkness of

evening. After sunset there is a gentle leaving of the light, the air begins to still, and a

quiet descends. I see magic in the quiet light of dusk. I feel quiet, yet intense energy in

the natural elements of our habitat. A sense of magic prevails. A sense of mystery. It is

a time for contemplation, for listening - a time for making photographs. -John Sexton

A co-worker and his wife have asked me to come and photograph their newborn little girl. I accepted the challenge because it is something new for me and I know I can learn from the experience. The FIRST thing I am doing to prepare for this is to go back and look at all of Neta's infant portraits. To me, this will be as valuable as any book I could purchase on the subject. I appreciate Neta's willingness to share from her experiences and give me advice.

Neta is a friend who intersected my life from left field. Some time ago she wrote a sweet letter asking for technical advice. That, of course, makes me laugh because I write to other people in the same vein. But I was happy to answer her questions. However, as I explored her photo stream it became apparent that she was already quite knowledgeable and doing things with people that I would never have dared. She likes people and they like her back. Period. I can see her making a few bucks, maybe many bucks shooting young and old--with her camera. LOL. One of the things that rapidly became apparent was her willingness to shoot and master new techniques, applying herself with the passion of the reformed. Thus, she continues surprising me constantly with her growing technical and artistic skills, always tempered with a generosity of spirit and warm friendship. Now I laugh when she does something new that leaves me baffled and asking her for technical advice because in this venue the dynamics of learning and doing are the give and take that make sharing our common interest such a pleasure. :-)
