The Newark Bears are a professional baesball team, and member of the independent Can-Am league. The current Bears' franchise has been in Newark since 1998, but the long, storied history of baseball in Newark dates back to 1917.

Since their return to diamond in '98, the Bears have won two Atlantic League Championships, and look forward to a new era of success in 2012 and beyond.
