Welcome to the Newcastle Centre for the Literary Arts (NCLA) website.

Established as a University Research Centre in 2009 and led by Director Linda Anderson, NCLA’s primary mission is to contribute to the cultural life of the North East region through the provision of events, education, projects and publications in the field of creative writing.

In a rolling, year-long festival of readings, discussion and debate, the NCLA events programme brings writers from around the world to Newcastle. Tickets for forthcoming events and a selection of NCLA publications are available from the online shop.
