Being out in nature—especially in remote places—is a passion for me, with architecture, design, travel and music following close behind.

I'm inspired by the work of many photographers, but Galen Rowell, Eliot Porter and Christopher Burkett are particular favorites. I aspire to communicate the kind of beauty, wonder and detail that infuses their work.

Until 2008 I shot most often with a fairly basic digital camera. The first dozen or so shots I posted were from low-end Canon point and shoot consumer models, with no filters and stock settings. I generally do no post-processing (a couple of sepia tests and the occasional sharpening or color balancing being the exception); photos are exactly as captured unless otherwise indicated in the description.

I also have many years worth of slides taken with my trusty Nikon FM2 that I am just beginning to digitize and post. I still occasionally haul it out for shoots, but I'm most excited by the D300 I got last fall and have been experimenting with (though the small point and shoot Canon is still a favorite for trips deep into the wilderness).

Thanks to so many of you here for very inspiring photos and comments...I look forward to continuing the exchange.
