Welcome and thank you for taking the time to browse these pictures, especially to those who have added comments or included an image in their own gallery of favourites.

Like many of you, I have had access to a camera from a relatively young age but did little more with it than produce happy snaps; pictures that recorded a moment in time which could be pulled down from a shelf to evoke a memory of the past.

The natural world has been a source of fascination for as long as I can remember and “happy snapping” used to be something I did while enjoying it. That perspective has altered thanks to an increasing desire to capture images that reflect the beauty in our natural environment rather than just record it. Consequently the camera has become a reason to go out into the field and not a supplementary activity whilst being there. However these two activities are without question symbiotic; the deeper you look the more you see, and the more you see the deeper you want to look. But irrespective how these images make you feel, the greatest attraction to sharing the natural world with a lens, is to witness her beauty first hand and taking away an image continues to remain as an additional bonus.

As an amateur photographer it’s very hard to be subjective about my own work. These images, (like my happy snaps) will always awaken a memory. But as I find wonderment in other photographers work; I hope some of you who have bothered reading this far, will found at least some appreciation with mine, and if you have please come back again and enjoy a few more of my visual memories.
