The first camera I used was a 35mm Minolta X-700 SLR with motor drive MD-1 (3.5 frames per sec), a 35-135mm and a 70-210mm zoom lens (to be honest, I had some cameras before, in my childhood, but they were very simple). The X-700 was made from 1981 to 1999.
My first photography skills resulted from working as a stringer for a local newspaper (gazette) and as editor for my school's magazine (I still was a teen those days). Films (Ilford B/W), processing (C41) and prints were paid by both employers, I received some training and gained experience in all kinds of photographic situations, from football match to open day at the day nursery to a violent riot. I love photography ever since.
In 2002 I got the first digital camera. It was good for snapshots. I continued to use the X-700 and attended a B/W photo laboratory course with it in 2003.
In 2006 and 2007 I worked for a local newspaper again. Using the desk's snug Canon something DSLR, I got inspired to get my first DSLR (a Nikon D40X) and move the photo lab to the PC.
In 2009 my smartphone had a 5MP camera and a permanent internet connection (an 8MP model with an unlimited, fairly speedy data plan replaced it in 2012). One snap, two upload, three - published. These always-in-the-pocket-cameras really rock... :) So, of course I like to snap whatever (and whoever) calls for it. Whenever. And wherever.
Currently I use a D5200 besides my constant companion, the smartphone.
