I'm currently a practicing dentist in Army at Fort Wainwright in Alaska. My background is in filmmaking, having directed two feature length documentary films, one for PBS, and planning to produce and serve as Director of Photography on another.

I attended film school at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles and held an internship with Robert Redford's production company, Wildwood Enterprises.

Very recently I rediscovered a passion for photography (I learned photography as a high school journalist and through a National Geographic photographer who taught me at USC). Just the simple beauty of composing photos, and the quick turnaround time (films can take well over a year to finish) were a big draw.

So I'm happily reentering the field out of pure love for the medium and the hope of making a little extra money on the side, just doing something I like. The great work and spirit I've witnessed on Flickr was a large part of this decision. Thanks to all the great photographers here who regularly contribute their passionate work and their expertise.
