Nataté Voluntariado Internacional A.C. is a registered non profit, non governmental and non religious organization based in San Cristóbal de las Casas, Chiapas. Founded in 2006, Nataté means “The Tree House” in Tzotzil and Tzeltal, the Mayan languages spoken the most in the Chiapas highlands. Nataté cooperates with local, national and international partners in order to address the needs of the local communities and groups it works with. It is also a member of the following international networks: International Service Civil (SCI), Alliance of European Voluntary Service Organizations, and the Coordination Committee for International Voluntary Service - UNESCO (CCIVS). Its mission is to contribute to society through a national and international volunteering service that supports local activities related to sustainable development, promotion of intercultural and environmental awareness, international solidarity, cultural and natural heritage preservation, support to marginalized groups and vulnerable minorities, and non-formal education for young people and for the general public. The main line of work of Nataté is carried out by volunteers both through work camps and a medium and long term volunteering service. Work camps relate to two to four week projects with a specific purpose; medium and long term volunteering involves a minimum stay of one month up to a year. Nataté Voluntariado Internacional A.C. es una organización no gubernamental, no religiosa y sin fines de lucro y está radicado en San Cristóbal de las Casas, Chiapas. Fundado en 2006, Nataté significa La Casa en el Árbol en Tsotsil y Tseltal, que son los idiomas Maya más hablados en los Altos de Chiapas. Nataté coopera con socios locales, nacionales e internacionales con el fin de atender las necesidades de las comunidades locales y los grupos con los que trabaja. También es miembro de las siguientes redes internacionales: International Service Civil (SCI), Alliance of European Voluntary Service Organizations, y el Coordination Committee for International Voluntary Service - UNESCO (CCIVS). Su misión es contribuir a la sociedad a través de un servicio nacional e internacional de voluntariado que apoya actividades locales relacionadas a desarrollo sustentable, promoción de conciencia intercultural y ambiental, solidaridad internacional, preservación de patrimonio cultural y natural, apoyo a grupos marginalizados y minorías vulnerables, así como educación no-formal para jóvenes y público general. La línea de trabajo principal de Nataté es realizado por voluntarios, tanto a través de campamentos como de servicios de voluntariado a mediano y largo plazo. Los campamentos son proyectos de 2 a 4 semanas con un propósito específico; voluntariado de mediano y largo plazo implica una estancia mínima de un mes hasta un año.
