I am a painter, draughtsman, sculptor, poet and writer. I divide my free time between these pursuits and updating my blog, NAROLC'S WORLD: narolc.blogspot.com I welcome visitors to my blog and their comments!

Born in Brighton, 1967. Self-taught artist. Educated at home under parental supervision from the age of eleven. I joined the UK's National Acrylic Painters' Association in the 1990s (with whom I exhibited several times) having exhibited my work regularly, both locally and nationally, since 1987. Since the year, 2000, I've been listed in the UK's 'Who's Who In Art.' Whenever I show my works, I enjoy modest success with consistent sales .

More of my art can be seen on Facebook: The Art of Julian Cloran. www.facebook.com/pages/The-Art-of-Julian-Cloran/130783593... and www.etsy.com/uk/shop/JULIANCLORANART4ALL where I offer artworks for sale at affordable prices.

I write poetry, which I have also occasionally performed, along with short stories, satirical sketches, black comedies and surreal vignettes. I have written two novels and abandoned a third. My blog includes numerous spoofs and parodies of contemporary culture.

I have a great love of books and my current collection of approximately 1, 200+ paperbacks (largely fiction) has been substantially pared down in recent bursts of recycling.

I am passionate about animals and have been a vegetarian for over forty years. My idea of utopia is a planet with equality of ALL species--an impossible dream! I mourn the fact that with today's unparalelled technology the human race remains fractiously splintered and enslaved by materialism; that life on every level typically involves constant entanglements with increasingly elaborate marketing ploys depresses and antagonises me.

Have we come so far for so little, I wonder?

What I love about Julians work is that it makes me really curious about the life he has. What I love about Julians work is that it makes me really curious about the life he has. The image I see of him through his work: on the one hand he seems like the perfect English gentleman who knows his art-history, on the other hand there are these super-raw aspects, that make me think: wow, I didn't know he had all this inside of his head! What else goes on in his mind? There is something about his drawings that keeps me drawn to them: I think they breath easy-going-ness and fun, like a good party. He keeps me very curious because he always surprises me with a completely new angle in shape and technique. In the contact I've had with Julian, he has always been so caring and shows a great eye for every little detail. I myself tend to not always be open enough to really notice what goes on in other peoples lives, Julian is truly open and a careful observer. The details in his drawings show me he can work in deep concentration. Julian always keeps me focused and when I get tempted to loose concentration of my art-track, he keeps me motivated by his great works about the importance of art, beauty and friendship. If there where more Julians in the world there would be far more love and understanding.

Julian's work is meticulous, pristine, quite fabulous. I once wrote that one of his drawings reminded me of the cover art for "Rubber Soul", a Beatle's album, that shaped who I was growing up. Julian's work is meticulous, pristine, quite fabulous. I once wrote that one of his drawings reminded me of the cover art for "Rubber Soul", a Beatle's album, that shaped who I was growing up. He is kind, intelligent, and I believe his art is excellent, ever evolving. To me, every detail is "just right" and I am proud to be his colleague. Please remember I once told you so, he is destined for greatness. Thanks for your friendship, my dear man. Best Always, Robert Hoover
