BACKSPACE BACKSPACE BACKSPACE. little inside joke there. ralph is, for me, the living definition of romance. there is such a gentle, quiet sweetness present in all of his images. he lives the 'leave only footprints, take only photographs' method of memory preservation. what is most evident in his work is a deep respect for what he is witnessing, almost a reverence, and a sense of gratitude for that which he captures. he sees things with his eyes but more so with his heart. and his heart is beautiful. he gave me a reason to fall.

I think I could write pages about Mr. Ralph Nardell. He truly is one of THE most interesting people I have ever "met". His wondrous vision and incredibly deft eye keep me fascinated with his work. The only way cloning could become ethically acceptable is if the men in white coats were to clone and place a Ralph Nardell in every statistically pre-determined location, as this man brings goodness, wisdom, and beauty everywhere.. emphasis on the goodness, wisdom, and beauty parts. His body of work is more than images- it's a way of perceiving and interpreting the world through ways and definitions previously unthought-of. The gentle, clever aesthetic (he'll probably not like that I used the word aesthetic here, but oh well ;-) brings forth wit and humor, and infuses the audience with a sweet, positive vibe. To come to his stream is to have a meeting with friends.. expect some puns, expect laughter, and certainly expect joy.

He's one of the most popular people in Flickrland, and if you meet him, you'll understand why. Ralph's images are creative and unique; he has a style all his own and often goes for the offbeat or what others might miss. He has a strong eye for patterns and lines and architectural details. His titles are often as clever and creative as his images. When he comments on others' photos, he is always kind, in-depth, and encouraging. Flickr is a better place because of Ralph.

Looks like I'm the 922nd person to leave him a testimonial and truth be told, he deserves them all. It's rare to know someone online then meet them "in real life" and find that they are the exact same person the show the world. No internet persona, just a genuine person with amazing storytelling ability in his photos and his words. I think he underestimates his photographic talent. The rest of us will just have to disagree with him. Here's hoping he just keeps doing what he does. He makes a lot of people happy with his work, his vision and the he takes the time to let each person know how much he appreciates the fact that they love his work. His delicacy of vision plucks subtle moments , elevating even the banal with the deft hand of a sage, as if to say, "Look... no, look again... can't you see what is right before you?" His kindness is evident in the comments he generously seeds in countless streams, reinforcing that this is , foremost , a community. There is not an iota of the self-serving in his words- only authentic wit and a solid appreciation for the little slices of our lives we lay out here for the world to see. That said, I haven't even met the guy (probably are real jerk in person) Oh, and he didn't pay me to say this, but I'm sure his checks are good. ;)
