A Brief History of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church

St. Thomas the Apostle was originally founded in 1985 as a mission of St. Benedict's Catholic Church in Crystal River, Florida, by the Benedictines of St. Leo Abbey. The late Fr. James Hoge, O.S.B., celebrated the first mass on Christmas Eve 1985, and in January 1987, St. Thomas was designated a parish.

Our parish boasts an electronic bell to enhance our liturgies as well as a beautiful Rosary Meditation Garden next to the Church. The bell and garden were sponsored by the Knights of Columbus, St. Thomas Council #15154, and made possible by the generous donations of our parishioners.
