About MyAegean Initiative: [GREEK] - [ENGLISH] - [FRENCH]
MyAegean is a non-profit voluntary initiative by students of the University of the Aegean. Also, a community portal, e-magazine & forum. It has come to act as a springboard for creative collaboration and exchange of ideas, a vehicle which encourage and promote direct, collective and qualitative communication and information exchange, without geographical restrictions.
Το myAegean αποτελεί μια εθελοντική και μή-κερδοσκοπική πρωτοβουλία φοιτητών του Πανεπιστημίου Αιγαίου. Χτίζει και λειτουργεί μια δικτυακή πύλη, κοινότητα, forum και e-περιοδικό. Φιλοδοξία και σκοπός μας είναι η άμεση, χωρίς γεωγραφικούς περιορισμούς, συμμετοχική και ποιοτική επικοινωνία και ενημέρωση και η δημιουργία ενός μορφώματος τέτοιου, ώστε όλος ο ακαδημαϊκός κόσμος (φοιτητές, διδάσκοντες, ερευνητικό, διοικητικό, τεχνικό και λοιπό προσωπικό) του ιδρύματος αλλά και κάθε ενδιαφερόμενος εκτός αυτού να έχουν ένα τόπο κοινής αναφοράς και δραστηριοποίησης.
[GREEK VERSION]Το myAegean αποτελεί μια ιδέα που γεννήθηκε το 2002 από μια ομάδα φοιτητών του Τμήματος Μηχανικών Σχεδίασης Προϊόντων & Συστημάτων, που εδρεύει στη Σύρο. Αποτελεί μια πρωτοβουλία, η οποία ξεκίνησε με σταθερά και οργανωμένα βήματα αξιοποιώντας όλες τις διαθέσιμες κάθε φορά γνώσεις και τεχνολογίες, με στόχο τη δημιουργία μιας δικτυακής πύλης για τα 5 νησιά του Αρχιπελάγους συντελώντας στη συνοχή και δραστηριοποίηση όλων των μελών της κοινότητας του Ιδρύματος, αλλά και εκτός αυτού. Ο δικτυακός κόμβος my.aegean.gr/ και οι επιμέρους ιστότοποι που έχουν αναπτυχθεί παράλληλα (my.aegean.gr/radio, my.aegean.gr/chat, my.aegean.gr/politistiki, my.aegean.gr/web, my.aegean.gr/gallery κ.ά.) τελούν υπό τη φροντίδα φοιτητών από όλα τα τμήματα, ανοιχτών σε νέες ιδέες και συμμετοχές.

Φιλοδοξία και σκοπός των συντελεστών είναι η άμεση, χωρίς γεωγραφικούς περιορισμούς, συμμετοχική και ποιοτική επικοινωνία και ενημέρωση και η δημιουργία ενός μορφώματος τέτοιου, ώστε όλος ο ακαδημαϊκός κόσμος (φοιτητές, διδάσκοντες, ερευνητικό, διοικητικό, τεχνικό και λοιπό προσωπικό) του ιδρύματος να έχουν ένα τόπο κοινής αναφοράς και δραστηριοποίησης. Μέσα από τη δικτυακή πύλη-κοινότητα μπορεί κανείς να γραφτεί μέλος εύκολα και ανέξοδα και να συνομιλήσει με άλλους, να εκθέσει τις σκέψεις του, να ενημερώσει και να ενημερωθεί. Η δικτυακή πύλη, στην ανάπτυξή της, στηρίχθηκε σε τρεις (3) κεντρικούς άξονες: την Ενημέρωση, τη Διασκέδαση και την Επικοινωνία, παρέχοντας διάφορα εργαλεία για την προώθηση των παραπάνω.
Αξίζει να σημειωθεί πως, με το πέρασμα του καιρού, η δικτυακή πύλη αποτέλεσε και αποτελεί ένα δυναμικό χώρο δραστηριοποίησης και προβολής του ίδιου του Πανεπιστημίου Αιγαίου στο ευρύ κοινό, καθώς πολλοί άνθρωποι, εντός κι εκτός ιδρύματος, έχουν έρθει σε επαφή και έχουν ξεκινήσει δημιουργικές συνεργασίες, για υλοποίηση διαφόρων ιδεών, με στόχο την προώθηση του πολιτισμού και της ποιοτικής, δημιουργικής δράσης.

[ENGLISH VERSION]The idea of "myAegean"originated in 2002 with a group of students from the Department of Product & Systems Design Engineering, in Syros. The aim of this initiative was to create a network portal for the whole of the Aegean University community by utilising any available technology. Our aspiration is to create a vehicle which will encourage and promote direct, collective and qualitative communication and information exchange, without geographical restrictions, among all members of the Aegean community (students, academic and research staff, as well as administrative, technical or other personnel). myAegean is to serve as a common point of reference, as a scheme which will stimulate and facilitate interaction among all the members of the university.

The 17 departments of the University of the Aegean are situated on five islands of the Archipelago, which is a unique feature of this Institution. Accordingly, communication and interaction among the members of all departments is not an easy venture. Registration to this network portal is free of charge and easy to accomplish. By registering, one will have the opportunity to chat with other members, share one's views, be informed, as well as provide information. The initial design of the portal was based on three axes: Information, Entertainment, and Communication. These aspects can be promoted and enhanced through a range of tools and facilities provided to the user. The network node my.aegean.gr/ as well as the individual websites which have also been developed (http://my.aegean.gr/radio, my.aegean.gr/chat, my.aegean.gr/politistiki, my.aegean.gr/web, my.aegean.gr/gallery e.t.c. ) are the responsibility of students from all departments. Any students who wish to join our team, as well as any suggestions are most welcome!
It is worth noting that, with time, this network portal has grown to provide a firm ground for action, and numerous activities have been fostered and nurtured through the constructive exchange of ideas and information. At the same time, it has significantly contributed to the projection of the University, thus making it more widely known to the public. It has gradually come to act as a springboard for creative collaboration and exchange of ideas among a great number of people both within and outside the University with the aim of promoting culture and encouraging a qualitative, fruitful means of interaction.

[FRENCH VERSION]L'idee du «My Aegean» est nee en 2002 grace a un groupe d'etudiants de l'Universite Egeenne. Le but de cette initiative a ete la creation d'un portail en reseau en utilisant a la fois les connaissances et les nouvelles technologies. L'ambition des etudiants, createurs de ce portail, est d'encourager et de promouvoir une communication directe, collective et qualitative ainsi qu'un echange coherent et permanent d'informations, sans restriction geographique, entre tous les membres de la communaute universitaire des cinq iles de la mer Egee (etudiants, enseignants, personnel de l'administration, techniciens..).

My Aegean sert ainsi de point de reference pour stimuler et faciliter la communication entre tous les membres des 17 facultes (de l'universite). Le portail est base sur trois axes : information, divertissement et communication que l'on peut promouvoir et ameliorer grace a de nombreux outils et equipements fournis a l'utilisateur.
Le portail my.aegean.gr ainsi que les autres sites qui ont ete developpes (my.aegean.gr/radio, my.aegean.gr/chat, my.aegean.gr/politistiki, my.aegean.gr/web, my.aegean.gr/gallery) sont sous la responsabilite des etudiants.
On peut remarquer qu'avec le temps, ce portail s'est ameliore en favorisant un grand nombre d'activites par l'echange constructif d'idees et d'informations. Le portail a contribue dans le meme temps a la projection de l'universite en la faisant connaitre a un large public.
Il devient petit a petit un tremplin pour une collaboration creative et un echange d'idees entre les membres de l'universite et les exterieurs. Leur but est de promouvoir la culture est d'encourager une interaction qualitative et fructueuse.
