I do not believe that sheer suffering teaches. If suffering alone taught, all the world would be wise, since everyone suffers. To suffering must be added mourning, understanding, patience, love, openness and the willingness to remain vulnerable.

Anne Morrow Lindbergh

I'm just an average person bumbling through an average life fortunate to live on a beautiful planet some of which I hope to capture through my love of photography.

Also averagely I have my own demons to contend with that sometimes seep through into my beautiful world.

As Dostoevsky said there are things which a man is afraid to tell even to himself, and every decent man has a number of such things stored away in his mind.

Yin and Yang I guess.

My principle is to leave all my uploaded images in place, not revisit, delete or prune as I grow to dislike them, whether on a whim or as my tastes seesaw or as their faults magnify in my eyes........have courage.

Each will be a footstep along my road, highlighting dead ends, beautiful views, uplifting vistas or downward spirals.......photographically speaking.

Lastly, please critique the images, I may not always agree but I'll always listen as its the only way to improve.......Go on as well as saying something pleasant, pull them apart.

“'But I don’t want to go among mad people,' Alice remarked.

'Oh, you can’t help that,' said the Cat. 'We’re all mad here. I’m mad. You’re mad.'

'How do you know I’m mad?' said Alice.

'You must be,” said the Cat. 'or you wouldn’t have come here.'”

Lewis Carroll

Mark and I have been contacts for about the last two months and I have been wanting to write a testimonial for a while now but wasn't quite sure where to begin. So, since this is LONG overdue I am going to just give it a whirl... When I first noticed Marks work it was his dark images that immediately caught my interest and attention. After reading his profile I was immediately hooked on him :) He not only expresses himself so well in his images but also with his amazing words. Everyday I look forward to seeing what he is going to post next and of course, I am never dissappointed. I especially love his images of the sea and his macro collection. Another quality about Mark is that he takes the time to view and comment on other peoples streams. His comments and suggestions are sincere, helpful and always appreciated. And yes, even his sense of humour. He can always get me smiling. So, thank you Mark...not only for your inspiration but also for your friendship and support. Michelle

Recently, I stumbled across some of Mark's photos of Cornwall and once I discovered that he lived there, I immediately began to stalk his stream :) Fortunately, he was a nice guy and not afraid of me and we have become flickr friends! I love how passionate he is about his work. Always capturing the most beautiful landscapes, still life and sometimes very dramatic abstracts as well. I really love his work with the camera but just as much I love his words. The poetry just flows out of him and I can't wait to read what he has written and captured every day. He is incredibly talented. Don't be fooled by his icon....he isn't scary at all:) He's wonderful contact who always makes helpful and encouraging comments! So glad our paths crossed in this flickr world.
