In the early 1970's, my parents gave me a Kodak 126 cartridge camera. Hands up who remembers those? My passion for photography had begun.
I spent 25 years in the UK photographic industry, working alongside the likes of Fuji Photo Film, Kodak, Noritsu, Ilford, Canon, Minolta and many more.
In 2007, I met my soulmate, Linda, a New Jersey girl, we married and I moved to the United States. We reside in Pennsylvania, close to the borders of New York and New Jersey. Having been involved in photography for so long, it seemed that I only took photos, occasionally, whilst on trips or vacations, shooting mainly nature, landscapes and cityscapes.
In 2018, my wife paid a visit to a local animal shelter and returned with an American Shorthair named Abby. To keep Abby occupied throughout the day, whilst we were working, I hung bird feeders around the garden. Six months later, I found myself photographing the birds and wildlife whilst Abby could care less. Although, still, to this day, she talks to Mourning Doves.
I wanted to see if I could design and build, essentially an outside studio, where I could create a portrait, almost on a one-to-one basis of all the wildlife living close or passing by. Hopefully the results would have a more personal feel to them. I think they do; you be the judge. Hope you enjoy them.
Quotes that reflect my life.........
"In the fire of images, gladly I put my hand." George Mackay Brown.
"Surely no child, and few adults, have ever watched a bird in flight without envy." Isaac Asimov.
and last but by no means least,
"If love is the answer, who cares what the question is." Mark Brunt. Thank you, Linda,
Thank you all for your time.
