Philosopher, professor, writer, sometime composer. The photos are mostly uncropped. I use GraphicConverter to resize, sometimes to sharpen or to change the gamma. The camera’s a Nikon SQ*, bought on sale when the female cats were little. It’s not quite up to action shots or long exposures. I’ve been learning to work within its limitations: good discipline in a way.
(*I now have a Lumix. More features, more bytes, somewhat faster and therefore somewhat better in natural light. On the other hand, I tend to like the "palette" of the Nikon better. The Lumix seems a little harsh by comparison.)
Photographers I like: Nadar, Atget, Lee Miller, Sarah Newman (a former student), Diane Arbus, Weegee. In taking a picture, I think of light and shadow, shape, subject.
The four cats are HS†, LG, musa, and Josie.
We have a nice garden.
My main website is Philosophical Fortnights.
I’ve lived (not just visited) in all the states marked in bright red below. I’ve also lived in Germany.
