Musick to Cope by are photos by Karen Musick and Geoffrey Cope. Because most of their photos are worked on by both parties, there was really no other way than to create one account to showcase our mutual and individual work.

 

Karen Musick is eccentric, strong, motivated, talented, creative, all this in a body that is struggling, pained, drugged, ill, dis-eased.

To balance these two extremes I use art and photography.

 

She paints in oils and draw with pencil and pen & ink very surreal "landscapes of my mind". To balance these often described as a bit scary works of art I photograph nature.

 

The two extremes offset each other nicely.

There is the intense work.

Here are the photos mostly from around my home near Kerrville, Texas.

 

Located about an hour's drive north of San Antonio,in the beautiful Texas Hill Country, this area provides lovely scenic drives, and I live on one of them,

 

They live across the street from the infamous Quiet Valley Ranch home of the Kerrville Music Festivals. During the off season, there is also plenty of good music that happens and the are the photographers for these events.

 

With Karen's health challenges, she needs her partner now more than ever to create the images of the natural beauty and the musical beauty.

 

recently Karen was asked to do two photo shoots, one of a newborn, the other a senior in highschool who needs senior photos. Karen is very excited and today she had her first photo shoot with a 10 day old fussy little girl. Without my COPEing mechanism there, the best shots would have gone untaken as she calmed down in my arms, he was able to snatch some great shots of an almost happy baby.

We shoot in .raw and Karen is the master developer (for now)

 

Geoffrey Cope hasn't used a SLR for some time, and is enjoying the challenge of learning the Pentax K200d. With an amazing timing, he captures the intensity of people and many of the musician photos graphs are taken by him and then developed from .raw by his MUSick.

 

Musick to Cope by will give you a delightful look into many different subject matters.
