I'm a senior at Pratt Institute, an art school in Brooklyn, Ny. I am about to graduate with a BFA in jewelry and Metalsmithing. My last year in New York has been focused on completing my thesis, which is the subject of mortality
Not so much the aspect of death, but the things that happen to us in our lives and the things we do that express our own humanity and make us beautifully imperfect vessels. These imperfections may be things that happen to us when we age, the result of bad choices we make, or genetic gifts. Everything that makes us human, be it a flawed physique or a rite of passage we all undertake. Experiences and states of being connect us like an unbreakable thread to one another and are therefore monumentally important when we try to understand ourselves and life in general. I have tried to account for a number of these states, and have express them in a way that allows us to see beauty, humor, and feel an connection to one another through them.
I take much of my inspiration from old medical diagrams that feature interesting pieces of the body. I first started using medical inspiration when I found drawing of an anotomical heart that I loved.
I'm really not very good at photography, I'm not sure why I have a pro account... I"ve got too much to share perhaps.
I am a new and proud member of the EtsyMetal Street Team. :)
