Characterized by a Gemini duality, Murali Raman is an excitingly real mixture of extreme opposites, artist, writer, poet, adman, aesthete and blogger. He has a Masters in English Literature, post-graduation in public relations and graphic designing, proficiency in French and German, apart from script-writing, film making, creative teaching experience. His oil, acrylic, multimedia paintings are in collections at NCST, Mumbai, Mahindra Towers, Mumbai, Clea Advertising & Marketing, Mumbai and at private collections in Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai, Buffalo, Seattle and Pittsburgh. He also sketches in charcoal pencil, though this is more as relief from his vividly motley color sensibilities.

I have been to India half a dozen times, and of course in that great country there are thousands of memories and images. Simple and complex. Color is one. Murali Raman lives in Mumbai, and much of his art typifys his country, simple, complex and colorful. From the saturated colors of his digital art, to the simple line drawings, reminding me of Cocteau, his work is always interesting. I think my favorite are the playful Ganesh. And, when you think you know him, you come across the delicacy of his charcoal pencil drawings. Indeed, he is a product of that great country, simple, colorful and complex. His art, like his country, is full of suprises.
