Drag to set position!
I aim to combine my passion for art and design with interest in business. I have been drawing a lot since I was very young. Many influences evolved during secondary school, including the international designers, architects and artists and their works which we studied as part of our design and visual arts courses. I included once such a design; the Tulip Chair (Design Museum) as one observation drawing.
So far my orientation has been driven partly by graphics and interests included Manga, Gorillaz, comics and other work, although I enjoy classical art (Jacques-Louis David, etc. at the Louvre) and public graphic art, illustration, design and architecture that I see. My friend’s father Leon Barnard is a top architect in Namibia, with many projects transforming parts of the city. I have spent time with a graphic artist Steffen List (international illustrator and graphic designer living in Namibia) and worked in an architecture firm in Addis Ababa. I am excited by music and fashion and have brought the influences together in my own design project, MunkiNation, which I have turned into a nascent business, including using social media (web, facebook, etc) to sell t-shirts profitably.
My ambition is to build a firm or movement that will grow into something big. To get there I make plans. First is a foundation diploma to get exposed to areas of art and design and potential careers, help me understand how different disciplines fit together, sharpen my skills, and understand what I am best suited to study at university. I hope to go on to an undergraduate degree. I will consider if more study and specialization is required but otherwise I will learn more of the commercial process by working in an exciting major design firm. Eventually I hope to establish my own firm and achieve my ambition.
