“I take photographs with love, so I try to make them art objects. But I make them for myself first and foremost - that is important.” ~ Jacques-Henri Lartigue

So the story goes like this:
I birthed a baby boy. I had a digital camera. I must have read somewhere that it was my duty as a new mother to photograph every.single.second of his amazing little life. My hard drive filled with digital photos in the same manner in which I filled boxes with years of film photography (in the form of actual prints.) I kept taking pictures, printing them occasionally for gifts, while continuing to enhance my digital photo albums.
After coming out of the initial six month delirium that is first-time parenthood, I began wanting-needing- contact with the outside world. But in my new and exhausting role as a stay-at-home-mother, I really didn't have the energy to venture much further than my computer. Much less the desire to get dressed or put on make-up.
I started spending more time on the internets. I read the news. I visited parenting sites. I read the hollywood gossip. I read blogs. It was while perusing Rosie O'Donnell's Blog that I first heard about Flickr. I checked it out and was hooked. Spellbound. Speechless- a weird concept for me. A whole new world opened up.
I've been around photography most of my life. My grandfather, my aunt, my uncle are all avid photographers. In fact it was my uncle who served as the photographer for my wedding. I've owned a variety of simple 110 and 35mm cameras over the years before switching to digital. Discovering Flickr and in its endless talent helped me discover a passion for photography I'd yet to realize.
I uploaded my first photo to Flickr on May 24, 2006. I bought a Pro Account a little more than a month later and haven't looked back. There is a reason some of us call ourselves Flickr Whores.
I currently use a Canon Rebel T3i. I also recently acquired (from my generous aunt & uncle) a Nikkormat FT3 with a 28-80mm. The only thing I'm sure about with the FT3 is that I could bludgeon someone with it. Literally.
I also have five polaroids and a Fuji Instax (one polaroid from my flickr-sis, Harpy.) It has the best mojo.
And I love my Holga, a gift from my cousin.
Some of my photographs are just snapshots documenting the minutiae of my every day life. Others are artistic interpretations. Most probably fall somewhere in between. I am constantly learning. I profess to know nothing. But I am passionate about photography and I think that is what's important.
Check out my contacts because they seriously rock.

(i'm pissed harpy got to her first. watch out for that harpy - she's fast!)
