I work for Yahoo!, I live in the Santa Cruz Mountains, I like being away from crowds and out in nature.

 

I believe in practicing photography as a craft. I mean this in the sense that I believe that to be able to fully control the outcome of the images you make that you must understand image management (composition), tonal management (exposure), and printing (whether digital or traditional). All of these things are necessary to be a photographic craftsperson. Anything less and you are giving up control of the final image to the camera, chance, whim, etc. To practice photography as an art requires the same kind of craftsmanship as does painting, sculpting, or the making of music. If you don't understand the tools you are working with then it isn't going to be Art.
