Thanks for stopping by and looking at my photography.

I got my first camera when I was 7 years old; a simple "point and shoot". It wasn't until I graduated from university that I got my first Nikon SLR camera from my parents, and I have used Nikon ever since. Naturally, as this was around 2001, my SLR was a film camera so my creativity was capped by the expense of film, and not knowing how well something worked until I got the prints back. I was late to the digital game, preferring film for a long time. Then in 2008, the company I was working for at the time gave all employees a decent sum of money to spend on a personal hobby. I decided to buy a digital camera and that reinvigorated my creativity.

Now I work for a place where there are no allowances for hobbies and new cameras. But I do get to travel with work (although depending on where I go and what I am doing, I cannot always take my camera... but the iPhone helps in those instances). I've lived and worked in a number of different countries, but Japan is my second home.

For me, photography is what keeps me calm and releases the pressure. I am very much an enthusiastic amateur, and so welcome comments and suggestions. I really enjoy looking at the photography of others, and take a lot of inspiration from it. I hope you like some of what you see, and thank you if you do fave or comment; it's very much appreciated.

僕は七歳の時に、最初の全自動カメラを貰いました。大学を卒業した時に両親からニコンの一眼レフカメラをプレゼントされ、それ以来ずっとニコンのカメラを愛用しています。2001年頃にもらった最初のニコンのカメラはまだフィルムカメラで、買えるフィルムの数にも限りがあり、またフィルムが現像されるまでどんな写真が撮れたのか確認できなかったため、僕の創造性を広げることができませんでした。

フィルムカメラに愛着があった僕は、長い間デジタルカメラに移行するのをためらっていました。ところが、2008年に当時勤めていた会社から、自分の趣味に使うようにとまとまったお金を支給されたのをきっかけにデジタルカメラを購入し、この瞬間から、僕の創造性が蘇りました。

今は政府で働いているので、趣味に使うための手当てが支給されることはありませんが、仕事で旅行に行くこともあります。行き先や内容によってはカメラを持っていけないこともありますが…そういう時はiPhoneが役に立ちます。これまで様々な国に住み、仕事をしてきましたが、日本は僕の第二の故郷です。

僕にとって、写真は心を落ち着かせ、プレッシャーから解放してくれるものです。熱心なアマチュアなので、コメントや提案は大歓迎です。他の人の写真を見るのが大好きで、沢山のインスピレーションを得ています。気に入っていただけたら嬉しいです。もしお気に入りやコメントを頂けたら心から感謝します。
