Born and raised in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil,
Leo Mateus started college for Architecure
and Urbanism by the age of 17.
This wide and clear view of art and its history
represented in cities, buildings and interiors have
initially shaped and modeled his artistic view.
From 1998 to 2001 he worked with print and web
for a small architecture studio, exploring all
possibilities those mediums could suplly.
And that's when his path started for graphic design.
In 2003-2004, Leo Mateus had contact with his first
motion graphics experience, where he met nice
co-workers such as Alexandre Torres,
Vini Nascimento and Marcus Alqueres,
transitioning from web to video composition and 3d.
After leaving the studio, he developed a
series of freelancer works that included
hotsites, motion ids and print, working solo
and co-working with the talents of
Gabriel Rocha and Alexandre Torres.
From 2005 to 2006, Leo moved to the film
animation field, working as the composition
supervisor for two feature films at Twister
Studio, while still freelancing at home.
From 2006 to 2007, it was the moment of burst
in the freelance field, extremely good in business
contacts as well as the works produced.
At the moment, Leo is attending as a full-time
senior designer and animator at Nakd Studio,
in Toronto, still developing his skills and
setting new goals.
