I re-discovered the hobby of photography about three years ago thanks to some urging from my wife. I first became interested in photography in my early twenties shooting mostly slide film (Kodachrome 25 and 64 because what you shot was what you got - very unforgiving in terms of exposure; it was a great learning tool - and because the colours were so vibrant).

Digital photography is just so much better than film - instant feedback on the back of the camera and with tools like Photoshop, Lightroom, etc., a wealth of 'darkroom' tools right on your desktop!
