i've been taking pictures all my life... it started in elementary school with a tiny, rectangular turquoise camera with single-use flash cartridges, and escalated from there. i suppose it's in my blood, seeing as my grandfather had his own darkroom in the house. i've had quite a bit of darkroom experience myself, and though i have currently succumbed primarily to the ease of digital, i have a deep love of film, with all its little inconsistencies and surprises. i feel that so much of our current society revolves around our desire for instant gratification, and too often we forget to look around and truly consider what we're shooting - digital allows the freedom to take thousands of shots, but deprives us in other ways: the thoughtful consideration of the worth of each shot... the excitement and anticipation that comes with waiting... the awe inspired by those perfect, yet unexpected results. for these reasons, i hope film and i are never too far apart.

i love looking at others' photos, and i'm constantly inspired by what i see; i'm always trying to learn new things about my camera, and photography in general... my flickr friends are a constant support in these areas, and i love them for it! :)
