Teacher and amateur photographer.

I have been interested in photography since grade school but didn't get my first decent camera until I graduated from university. I am an amateur but I have done some wedding and portrait work for family and friends. After years of using Pentax and Minolta SLRs I went digital in the form of a Pentax Optio 33L

Christmas 2005 (I must have been a good boy that year) my wife Annette gave me a Pentax *istDL allowing me to use my old Pentax lenses again. Since then I have moved through several Pentax cameras as well as a micro four thirds kit. I have since moved entirely into mirrorless with Olympus and Sony APS-C gear. The joy of a compact, quality, camera fits so well with my new "simpler" way of seeing. Although I will never call myself a "street photographer" I am now able to shoot far more easily than before with smaller lighter gear. A boost to the "photo mojo".

Flickr has added a new dimension to our photography (myself and my wife anewfie36 ), we are totally enjoying the experience.

I was probably more of a camera-buff than a photographer but I am trying to fix that.

I plan to continue practicing this hobby, and maybe someday I will get it right. My focus (pardon the pun) has shifted much more to the image rather than the equipment used to get it. Again it has been Annette who has pointed me in the right direction, for Christmas 2011 she gave me two excellent photography books that deal with the art, not the technical aspects, of photography. Great images come from the mind of the photographer not the contents of his camera bag.
