My 2010 Photo Diary

May 27th, 2010 update:

Greetings to all, unfortunately Mo has had a stroke which has affected his speech and paralyzed his left side a few weeks ago. He currently in aggressive therapy at an acute rehab facility with some progress already noted. Updates will follow, his cousin>

Fortysomething Washington, DC, resident. Hopeless karaoke addict. HopeFUL romantic. Writer, former IT guy. Very limited photography skills; hoping to expand them. But right now, it is more likely that my images will illustrate my words. I do not have the skills of the MANY talented people I've encountered here on Flickr to create such powerful images that stand above the words associated with them.

What you will say about me:

Why, I haven't a clue. I just hope something you come across here leaves a positive mark on your life. Several of you have done the same for me - for which I will always be grateful.

Monty has accumulated many nicknames over the years, but two I have not heard him use stand out to me to represent the core of his being: Writer and Friend. Anyone who had taken the time for more than a passing glance at either his stream or his comments on other’s streams will understand “Writer” immediately. We all have thoughts floating around in our minds. Observations, theories, emotions, feelings, sentiments, just bounce around, linger, or zip through our thoughts as we view photos and read comments. Most people do not take the time to express more than a fast “great shot” or “awesome bokeh” as they view a post. They ignore all the thoughts and emotions the photo brings to the forefront of thought. Most also just post a photo they feel is flickr worthy and go on their way. Monty has the ability to use his photos with his thoughts and experiences to inspire and make us all think on a deeper level. He is also able to summon all these thoughts, coax and pry them out of the hidden and uncharted recesses of his mind, cajole them into taking a tangible shape, and then express them in the form of words and sentences like no other I have met. He also has the uncanny ability to view other’s photos and summon words into a flow of thoughts and feelings to become the very essence of what the photo represents. A rare talent is he. For those who have taken the time to get to know Monty at all, “friend” will also jump to mind. He cares, he loves, he encourages, he trusts, he respects and he cherishes people. And in turn he evokes those same feelings from those he touches. I am so blessed to have met Monty on flickr, and to call him friend. Monty you are loved. Serene

Yay, I'm the first to write Mo a testi!! Mo is the most gentle soul I have ever met. And I mean that in real life, not just here on flickr. He is one of those people with whom I will always consider a friend, a decent human, and a class act. Mo and I connected immediately since we share an understanding with the untimely deaths of our fathers, an appreciation for Sinatra, and agreement that good music can enrich and change lives. When my son gets older, Mo has already promised to teach him the finer skills in crooning. Mo's photography is so rich in genuine emotion in both image and in writing. His talent to express himself and his passions so eloquently astounds me. I love to get a peak into his life and his world through his words and photographs. I am blessed to have Mo in my life.
