I like making things. This has led to all manner of activity: pies, music, canning, theatre, electrical work, knitting, sewing, origami, and most obsessively, millinery. This obsession looks to have stuck, and in order to reduce the vast number of hats that pepper my condo, I’ve been vociferously “encouraged” by my husband to find a way to find them new heads to sit on. This is only fair, as I gave him the same.... er.... encouragement.... about his embroidery. How many ties does a guy really need?

I spend my days as a piano teacher, which I consider to be the greatest job in the world. I’m originally from Minnesota, and I still call the north woods home, though we’ve been in Chicago for six years or so. I am also a co-founder and musical director of Flying Leap Radio Theatre, a company that peforms old-time radio theatre, live on the stage. I like to spend my evenings making stuff with my curmudgeonly husband, Adam, and my intrepid terrier, Spoof. I like cold weather, board games, Irish whiskey, and 1940s back-stage musicals starring Dick Powell. I’m bad at sports that involve flying objects and making plants grow. I feel that it’s perfectly ok for women to be equally comfortable in a pair of Carhartt's and a pair of strappy sandals. But probably not at the same time.
