The Model, home of The Niland Collection in Sligo, is one of the leading contemporary arts centres in Ireland.
The building on The Mall is currently closed to facilitate an exciting redevelopment (which you can see progress pictures of on our photstream) and will re-open to the public in early 2010.
Previous exhibiting artists have included Andy Warhol, Patrick Hall, Sean McSweeny, Mark Orange, Runa Islam, John Shinnors, Camille Souter, William Kentridge, Jaki Irvine and Barrie Cooke among others. The Niland Art Collection includes over 300 works from artists including Jack B, Yeats, Paul Henry, Sean Keating, Patrick Collins, George Æ Russell and Louis le Brocquy among others.
The Model has a vibrant performance programme which includes an eclectic mix of contemporary and classical music. The music programme, develops events that respond to the Model programme, produces The Sligo New Music Festival and supports The Sligo Festival of Baroque Music.
