Michael Douglas Jones has, for many years, used trompe l’oeil oil paintings to create the illusion of reality and now uses collage to create the same effect. Most of the envelopes, cigarette cards, postcards, maps, and photographs that appear in his assemblage art were fabricated to appear as authentic artifacts.
