Mixed Media Epics!
Drag to set position!
I started MIXED MEDIA EPICS in 2007 when I wanted an alternative to making films committed to the use of one technique; when I wanted to make films as quickly and easily as possible with one focus in mind: to have fun telling great stories.
And so, we don't pin ourselves down to using one technique (say for instance, stop motion animation, or computer animation) in a film. Instead, the focus is on taking the most effective and economical ideas from a whole range of techniques and combining them to tell a story in a unique and cost-effective way.
Working in this way allows for great flexibility and spontaneity in the film making process. It also encourages a lot of collaboration as films are shaped by a number of people approaching them from different angles and with a wide range of backgrounds. Indeed, this is part of the point, that any work created by a group of people becomes a sum of their efforts. Through it all though, and regardless of the tools and techniques, its the story and the film itself that remains the central focus of our efforts.
The attitude here is to get whatever we need on screen and in the speakers to tell the story in the way it needs to be told, and nothing more. We don't go out of our way to carve out a particularly "heroic" amount of work for ourselves, and we don't create more work than necessary to achieve a particular effect. The cars in my movies are made out of little folded pieces of paper, and buildings are made out of cereal boxes with painted sides. All expenses are spared in the creation of the productions, and instead this energy is allocated to making the films themselves as good as they can be.
Please comment, drop me or us an email, and get in touch. If you've got questions about the process, about a film, or just want to let us know what you think, feel free.
Our current project is called SUPER POWER MAGNET, and we'll be uploading lots of material from that project as we make it.
best,
