‘MITR – ek saanjha prayaas’ was established in February 2009 under the Societies Registration Act XXI of 1860. The organization was constituted with a vision to bring up a society that consists of educated and self-dependent people thereby giving equal rights and privileges to as many as possible.

The people associated with the organisation were basically a group of media persons who actually had a willingness to be a part of a process and a cause so noble.

The establishment, at that time, being a ‘new kid on the block’, had limited resources. It was towards the realization of the goal of the organisation that we joined hands with another non-profit organization called ‘Asha Shri’ thereby starting the journey by giving in our volunteering contributions to them in their various social awareness programmes, seminars, street plays and camps at Bahadurgarh in Haryana.

It was only after a few months that MESP initiated two projects of its own with the help of a few friends from media and some selfless volunteers. We began with Project Hariyali and Hum Swasth, Parivaar Swasth in a village of Uttar Pradesh and slowly extended the reach to a few more villages in UP and Haryana.

And then, there was no turning back. We set up a ‘Baalwadi’ in the Kanchankunj area of Madanpur Khadar-II of Delhi and are now planning to set up a few more in other areas too. We have other projects in pipeline that would soon be a part of the NGO’s plan.

We also set up a media division of the NGO, namely, Saanjha Productions that primarily makes films and documentaries for other organisations, corporate and other groups.

The focus areas of the work being done at Mitr – ek saanjha prayaas are very clear. MESP is an endeavour:

to create self-sustaining employment opportunities for the women and youth

to promote and encourage the education, welfare, empowerment and the uplift of women and children

to create a sense of brotherhood, cooperation, mutual harmony amongst the general public

to undertake the research and analysis project related to women and youth issues

to work in the field of media making films, documentaries, programmes, etc… to promote the various causes which MESP and other organisations are working for
