Organic?

A little about me eh? Well I don't really have a hometown, since I grew up moving around a lot because my dad's in the Military. I like to call Spokane one of my homes since that's where a lot of family is and we always visited there, Port Orchard is home because that's where my folks live, my other home is Port Angeles, WA since that's where I have a lot of friends, and it's the home my fiance, Jessica.

I'm a Christian and not ashamed of that. I'm definitely not perfect, but I know who is.

Besides photography, I really dig driving, I don't know why, maybe it's because I drive a Volvo stationwagon, maybe it's the 110 horses that I can unleash with my right foot. (Nearly effortless power, I mean, how cool is that?) Even when hanging out with friends that drive newer, faster, more modern cars, mine always seems to be the preferred car...sure it might have to do with gas, but I like to think they have fun with me and feel safe with me...or maybe it's just my awesomely cool, naturally aspirated 1988 Volvo 240 DL Stationwagon. (With cruise control)

But wait....why be satisfied with just driving it? I also autocross it. Yeah, that's right, I race my Volvo Wagon.

Besides photography and driving, I really dig mountain biking, nothing too extreme, I just adore tearing up the trails...okay, leave no trace and all...I just enjoy cruising the single and doubletracks in the woods and fields.

My photography style is pretty dynamic, sometimes the final images seem "dark" or "moody" ... it doesn't have anything to do with how I feel or any kind of depression or emoness, I just think it looks cool.

It's in the light. Good lighting makes a photograph, simple window light at any time of day, golden hour, strategically placed strobes, ambient light at night...make the best use of the light you have and don't be afraid to chase down the light you don't and you'll find that your results will improve dramatically.

Life is good.

This is my first "keeper"

I shoot in just color when using digital. You can always convert to BW on the computer *(and do a better job than the camera)

--Because you can go Color to BW but not BW to color.

I shoot primarily with a Canon Digital Rebel XTi, but on occasion, I'll use a Canon Powershot A570IS.

Lenses:

Sigma 10-20mm

Canon EF 50mm F1.8

--Digital Concepts Filter Type Conversion lenses for the Powershot. (and of course for messing around)

Mista Yucks understanding of light and atmosphere makes me very envious, he manages to capture a certain quality in photos that makes them feel like great paintings, how he does it i wish i knew. they always have a sense of drama to them that makes them stand out from the crowd. keep up the excellent work!

Been wanting to say a little something special about my flickr friend Mista Yuck. First, I'd like to say that, as you know, his HDR's dominate his stream, and I have found very few others of that specialty that are in his class on flickr. Not just any picture can be turned into a winning HDR. Many must be planned from conception and he is excellent at it. I admire him greatly for this talent. Second, I like the way he is not afraid to try something different and usually he nails it. I like variety. He has some very innovative ideas in his stream. Take a look. And thirdly, I believe he is just an all around cool guy. The kind of guy that would make a good friend to hang around and talk with. It is truly my pleasure to know him and to watch his stream waiting for his next gorgeous image/HDR. I truly mean this. I take this seriously and I don't write what I don't believe. Take care Bailey S., may your next shot be your best. Jim
