The camera is an instrument that teaches people how to see without a camera.

 - Dorothea Lange

Pictures, regardless of how they are created and recreated, are intended to be looked at. This brings to the forefront not the technology of imaging, which of course is important, but rather what we might call the eyenology (seeing).

 - Henri Cartier-Bresson

About me, in general

Born in Ibague, Colombia, now living in Toronto, I'm a web designer & developer at Hypenotic.

I'm passionate about modern design & minimalism. I hope to be an architect some day.

Recently started fiddling with photography and it quickly became a passion. It's too early to say what my style of photography is.

Because I spend so much time on the computer in my day job, I like to do most of my photography work on the camera--

I try to keep image manipulation to a minimum (i.e. contrast, exposure, saturation, a bit of sharpening, etc. You know, nothing too exotic). I'm not interested in image editing for now, who knows tomorrow.

About me, on flickr

I appreciate you faving & commenting on my photographs--I'm very interested in knowing what you *really* think about them. Any tips that can help make me a better photographer are greatly appreciated.

But text only please--don't post any graphics, specially animated ones, since I find them distracting and feel they interrupt the natural flow of the comments. If you do, your comment will be deleted and I'll be discouraged from visiting your stream. Some exceptions will be made, of course.

Also...

When I first started posting my images on flickr I was advised to get into as many groups as possible to get noticed. I quickly relized that's not the right approach because:

1) It sucks to spend so much time posting your images into all those groups, keeping track of their weird rules and being forced to comment on images you wouldn't comment on otherwise.

2) I found out that, apparently, the flickr "Explore" algorithm actually penalizes you for trying to force-promote your images, specially when they are added to groups that force you to comment on other people's photos (read this). And...

3) Because it really sucks to have all those animated GIFs and horribly designed logos in the same page as your picture.

So from now on, thanks, but no thanks.

Please don't take it personally if I remove your group invitation or group award from my comments--I just want to keep my photo-pages clean and my time focused on taking pictures and viewing, commenting and faving yours.
