Hello from Ottawa, Ontario, Canada!

What's My Purpose here? I just want to show how great it is to live in Canada, Ontario, Ottawa. I do that by taking photos in public places. I call myself a Street Photographer.

Who am I and what do I look like? See HERE: www.flickr.com/search/?q=mike&w=14813074%40N00&ss...

The truth is, I've aged a bit since this profile pic was taken though, I still feel young at heart. Thank You Flickr Friends for all the visits, comments and faves! Ich spreche Deutsch. Je parle Francais. I'm just a fellow who likes art and music and a sociable person who believes that we are all brothers and sisters in this troubled, modern world.

I am not a big user of groups but I always oblige your kind invitations.

My camera is once again a Nikon D40 with 6.1Mp. I edit with Adobe Lightroom 3.

I don't want to invade anyone's privacy so I shoot people mostly from behind or from a distance. Made up a "Press Pass" which I wear at sensitive shoots like a fire scene or protest march. You can make your own badge here: bighugelabs.com/badge.php

Havin' too much FlickrFun here! I think, some of my photos 'pop', as they say, because I'll spend an hour or more editing and touching up the photo on my home computer using photo editing software. I like to turn ordinary images into something special.

Flickr has been through many changes since I started here. If you should find any 'broken links' in my photo comments . . . Please let me know so I can make corrections. Thanks much.

My style could be summed up as featuring hi-contrast, saturated colors within an urban setting. I'll keep workin' on my photography and photo-editing and see where it takes me.

I met professional model, Janet by accident on the street. It was freezing cold and Janet was showing her bare tummy beneath a too-small jacket. Yes, I asked her for a street photo. Janet gave me a series of poses and we arranged to meet again to take some more photos. Here are the results, my first photos with a Pro Model! www.flickr.com/photos/mikeygottawa/albums/72157632317755309

I'm not rich or famous but CTV Ottawa gave me three minutes here; www.youtube.com/watch?v=3C2U_01ajdw

CBC Radio Ottawa gave me eight minutes here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=253iqLH82oA

Rogers Cable TV Ottawa gave me ten minutes on "Camera Talk" with Sandra Sharkey : www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z-s4ZpS_t1Y

Thank You All So Much for 6M views as of May 2025. Appreciate All Your Visits and Comments and E-Mails!

Best wishes, All,

Mikey G

It is always a pleasure to follow Mikey’s eye as he roams Ottawa. His documentation of streets and buildings and people of Ottawa, is a chronicle of the current days of a unique city. He spots the unusual, the common and the spaces in between. His enthusiasm for his city shows in each frame. Good show, Mike… Read more

Micheal seems to kindly smile on all of life through his ever varied photos. From pensive poodles to plastic looking muscle men to refrigerator movers he delights in ever interesting, nuanced stories of life itself. Rather than coming across as a selfish voyeur, he seems to be giving the gift of respect and preservation to the subjects he captures. Thank you for the kind smile you convey through your work.
