Born in Melbourne and living in Perth, Western Australia, I have always had an interest in photography having a Kodak Brownie box camera and then my first SLR back in the late 1960s, this being a Practica Nova with a Zeiss 50mm 1.8-22 lens. I later added 135mm and 400mm lenses and a x2 televerter. This was followed by a zoom (80-200mm) lens. However, most of my photos were for family use.
I started tinkering with digital photography back in the late 80s while teaching computing and even won a first prize at the Wanneroo show for an action photo I took using my HP digital camera.
My son Matthew purchased a Canon EOS 300D and started taking some great photos ( www.flickr.com/photos/jricco/4020807309/ ) which were displayed on the ABC website. Thus inspired, I purchased my own Canon 300D.
I used to take a lot of day to day photos as well as pictorial stories of events such as balls, dinners, camps and swimming/sports days for the school where I worked.
I now use the following:
Canon 450D that I use mainly for Macro photography along with a Canon 60mm EF-S macro lens.
Panasonic Lumix GF2 with a 14mm pancake lens and a 14-42 zoom
Canon 6D Mark II, Sigma 24-70mm DG HSM 1:2.8 lens, Sigma 70-200mm 1:2.8 DG HSM lens
An assortment of M42 screw mount lenses that include a Carl Zeiss Jena Pancolar 1.8/50, Yashica Yashinon-DS 50mm 1:1.9, Tokina 135mm 1:2.8, Cosina 70-210mm 1:4.5-5.6 MC Macro and a Hanimex Tele-lens 1:6.3 f=400mm
My main photographic interests revolve around people, landscapes, stories, textures, macros and occasional panorama, HDR and experimental.
