Midtown Raleigh features a thriving mix of businesses, residential neighborhoods, schools, and churches; a strong sense of community; 12 miles of sprawling greenway trails; 10 city parks; a distinctive skyline; and a 24/7 walkable urban core centered around North Hills.

This page is dedicated to creating an online destination for conversation about Midtown Raleigh and the continuation of Midtown's already strong sense of community.

As discussed in the 2009 News & Observer article titled, "Who birthed Midtown?" (bit.ly/GGiFVa) there has been some controversy over who first promoted the idea of a "Midtown Raleigh" since it's birth in circa 2005.

However, it is clearly evident, today, that Midtown Raleigh does exist as a thriving center of urban density for the City of Raleigh--an important marker in the life of successful major cities, one that has a direct benefit for all of Wake County.

With the founding of the Midtown Raleigh Alliance (www.midtownraleighalliance.org/) in June 2011, community leaders gathered to create a more clear identity for Midtown's geographical location and to promote the Midtown Raleigh brand both locally and regionally.

Since that time, Midtown Raleigh has been defined as the geographical area roughly within a 2-mile radius of North Hills (think Trader Joes to Shelley Lake).
