The Middleton & Meads Company has a long and respected history in the transportation industry. The company was founded in the latter part of the 19th century as the White –Middleton Gas Engine Company to manufacture engines for our growing industrial nation. In the early part of the 20th century, the Middleton & Meads Company was formed to change the focus of the company from an engine builder and machine shop to a truck repair facility. Middleton & Meads grew over the years by keeping pace with the transportation industry.

In the early years, the company provided suspension, front end, steering, driveline and machine shop service. Springs and suspension parts where also manufactured to service the Baltimore industrial community. During World War Two Middleton & Meads assumed a role in the defense of our nation by manufacturing armament parts for the United States Army. At the close of World War Two while continuing to expand the truck, bus and equipment repair business, the leadership of the company recognized the needs of returning service men. The company expanded the facility to manufacture electric irons and oil burners to provide employment for discharged service men and women returning home from the war.

The 1950s brought more changes to Middleton & Meads. Due to the boom in truck transportation provided by the national inter-state highway system, the manufacturing facilities were closed and the truck and bus collision repair and paint facilities were opened.

After 60 years of expansion through the acquisition of multiple buildings in downtown Baltimore, the company consolidated and relocated to our current corporate headquarters and service facility at 1900 South Hanover Street in 1970.

In the beginning years of the 21st century the Middleton & Meads Company opened two additional facilities. The Paint Division, located in Baltimore, was added in 2001 and the Beltsville Service Center was added in 2003.

In the past 10 years we have expanded our services to include computerized diagnostic equipment for brake, engine and vehicle laser alignment. Middleton & Meads provides total fleet management services for mechanical, collision and painting requirements. The Middleton & Meads Company is a family owned and operated company through four generations and celebrates over 90 years quality of truck, bus and equipment repair and service.
