Retired managing director of a provincial insurance broking business. Married (since 1965), with 1 son, 1 daughter, 3 grand-daughters and 3 great grand-daughters and 2 great grand-sons.

Interests: My gorgeous wife Joan and I used to love touring the UK and Europe in our motorhome checking out interesting historical sites, restaurants and other places of interest, unfortunately time has taken its toll and these happy days are now just pleasant memories. I am a keen amateur photographer, an enthusiastic karaoke singer, an animal lover, a foodie, a connoisseur of good wine, an atheist, a reluctant gardener and possibly the worst Do-It-Yourselfer in the world.

I dislike political correctness, petty officiousness and meddling do-gooders.

Only claim to fame, met and shook hands with Harold Wilson, the then Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, and Ian Smith, Prime Minister of Rhodesia (Zimbabwe) whilst serving on board HMS Tiger during the 1966 'Tiger Talks'.
