I was born in 1950 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
It is still my Spiritual Geographical Center even though I have been living in New England now for over 50 years.
My model making skills are an accumulation of numerous and varied jobs I've had over the years. Everything from text book illustrator, wallpaper hanger and house painter, designer of museum displays, architectural model maker, and art director for retail stores.
My love of the 20th Century has been a constant inspiration for all of my work.

I’ll just look at these beautiful cars on his photos and wonder how amazing they look in colors. And more deeper I go I finally realize… these are toy cars and trains photographed with real buildings and trees! There are hundreds of photographers in this world, who takes photos of toy cars and figures, but only few of them delivers the quality that keeps me amazed, photo after photo. Michael Paul Smith’s work is one of them and I’d love to recommend to look further his photos and miniature work, as it’s full of wonderful craftsmanship and fascinating photography!

Michael is the most giving, amazingly talented model maker, photographer, artist, and friend. Often times flying under the radar because he refuses to toot his own horn. That's why I'm here...
