I'm a scientist / science writer, also have been a hobby photographer most of my life. If there's a link between the two it's an interest in structures on all scales, and associated functions. Like a structural biologist, I am interested in reflections, patterns, symmetries, shapes, and functional elements. Thus I like to photograph architecture and plants, but will also consider humans and other animals if they adopt an interesting structure (or function), or scatter light in some fascinating way.

I take pix with 16MP resolution but reduce the file size before I post. If you would like a high res version of any of them, do give me a shout.
