Flickr Friends,
I've lived in the same place for many years. I haven't owned a car in 10 years. I've had 7 eye operations. I've been blind in each eye several times. Everything to me is a little fuzzy.
I generally explore an area less than a mile around my home, which is a university campus. This means that I continually find magic and awe in my backyard, in things taken for granted by most people too busy to see.
I don't go shoot pictures,. but, I never leave home without my camera, which makes every destination, every day an adventure. Seeing familiar things in a new light, time of day, different atmospheric conditions, different seasons, going through natural life cycles, blossoming, eroding, corroding and changing is what I do. I don't seek new horizons, just changes in the same one. Over the last five years or so that translates to around 50,000 pictures on assorted hard drives.
For me photography is a spiritual connection to the world. I feel that armed with my camera I go through life with all my receptors on. I try to see the beauty and potential in everything around me. This certainly slows up the process of getting from point A to point B, but it sweetens the journey!
