Since 2004 Michael has been a frequent guest artist with The Philadelphia Orchestra’s popular Family Concerts, presenting vaudeville-inspired performances of classic stories for young audiences. He’s also appeared with The Philadelphia Orchestra in the Beyond the Score presentations of Bartok’s The Miraculous Mandarin and Stravinsky’s The Rite of Spring. Other family concerts include performances with the orchestras of Saint Louis, Milwaukee, New Haven, Richmond, and the Westchester Philharmonic.
For the 2011-2012 season...
Peter and the Wolf with symphonies in Texarkana, Princeton, Annapolis, and New Jersey’s Symphony in C; Dr. Seuss’s Green Eggs and Ham with orchestras in Lincoln, Harrisburg, Annapolis and Kennett; The Story of Babar with the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra; Mozart’s Toy Symphony with orchestras in Harrisburg, Charlotte, and Newark; and Michael will make his Des Moines Symphony Orchestra debut in the Beyond the Score presentation of Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition;
Michael is a graduate of the Professional Theatre Training Program at the University of Delaware, and is co-founder of www.ReallyInventiveStuff.com.
Michael’s theatre credits include American Players Theatre, Delaware Theatre Company, the Resident Ensemble Players (REP), Enchantment Theatre Company, First State Children’s Theater Company, and the Utah and Baltimore Shakespeare Festivals. In December 2010, he will appear in the Resident Ensemble Player's production of "A Midsummer Night's Dream."
Since 1997, Michael has created theatrical, literature-based solo performances for museums, including the Delaware Art Museum, Brandywine River Museum, Longwood Gardens, Delaware Children’s Museum, Reading Art Museum, Hershey Museum, Hagley Museum and the Farnsworth Art Museum.
Michael and his wife Sara are currently creating a new “vaudeville-Victorian-music hall” celebration of the life and times of American artist Howard Pyle to debut at the Delaware Art Museum in November 2011. An avid artist and illustrator, Michael is working on the publication of an original Peter and the Wolf coloring book.
