My artworks include illustration, painting and design for fashion and interiors. My work ranges from the artistic and highly creative to commercial design working for defined customer briefs. I exhibit nationally and internationally and have featured in trend forecasting publications such as Textile View. Alongside my professional career, I lecture in Art and Textiles at Stafford College.
My inspiration for design has evolved from a love of colour and line. I have a fascination with everyday life and draw my inspiration from travelling and recording everyday moments. Subject matter often includes nature, fashion, text and urban or everyday objects teamed in interesting compositions.
My entries in my journals and sketchbooks provide the inspiration for my work, moved by landscape, memories and personal stories.
I work experimentally with surface print techniques including transfer printing, stencilling and appliqué. I use a combination of collage and stitch, using both paper and fabric, and use Adobe Photoshop to further manipulate imagery. My art work uses many layers of image, photography and text which I will embellish with tactile elements such as buttons, lace, tickets, old paper treasures and found objects that have all been lovingly collected.
