The Request: Please do not disrespect me or my photography by stealing, borrowing, modifying, molesting or obsconding with my artwork. If you want to use something as stock, just ask first please!!
The facts:
I graduated from a private liberal arts college where I started out majoring in digital photography. I discovered it took all the fun out of taking pictures for me, so I left it as a hobby and got a degree in behavioral psychology and neuroscience (Nerd! :P). I like trying to meld science and art, which is apparent through all my bug/insect pictures and the handful of computer generated images I made out of neuroimaging files, ha ha.
I'm was a cave interpretive specialist and I teach art and spanish at a private early education school, and to relax I write fantasy novels... that no one would ever want to read :)
I work for a non-profit foundation that protects, preserves and interprets Civil War Battlefields in Virginia and manages the Shenandoah Valley Battlefields National Historic District (We're cool people :P).
I mostly work with my little Canon SX110. It's not professional by any stretch but it satiates my shutter fever.
I guess I'd call my style "purist", I prefer photographing nature and I don't usually create shots. I like the hunt for that split second perfection that if you miss it, it's gone.
The finer points:
I have a strong respect and gratitude for all individuals in the military (active, reservist, retired, whatever). If you don't, that's fine, but please don't engage me in conversation about it. I won't have much patience or many nice things to say.
I don't have a particular political "viewpoint" and politics in general make me VERY uncomfortable.
I like to try to find the beauty and true nature in all things... living, dead, inanimate, no matter.
I collect swords and edged weapons and have an extensive collection (It's a hobby, not an obsession, lol). I also like going out to the gun range on a long weekend (Again hobby not extremist and NEVER live targets).
I love the smell of a late evening thunderstorm rolling in during the swelter of August.
I'm a dreamer, though never quite confident enough to go after them.
