Just broadening my horizons from the microcosm of another photography website called DPChallenge which I would recommend highly for those who are new to (digital) photography and want to enter themed weekly competitions. Some great photography there but it has recently tended to promote a saccharine-flavoured view of the world through its photography (and rather blinkered forums) that I grow tired of.

This place is truly amazing but fills me with a real sense of panic when I know that I'll never be able to see 1% of 1% of the great images posted. After 2 years at DPC I see a real shortcoming in FLICKR which is the lack of options in the EXPLORE section. The interestingness idea is really good but I wish there was a way in which we could be exposed to more dimensions of 'pre-screened' photographs. I'm thinking of some sort of stats-based selection of FLICKR-wide favourites/most viewed/most commented etc. Drop me a line if you can point me in the right directions, please.....

I was a FujiFinepix S3000 user..

Hmmmm...

But since the end of 2007 I am now the proud owner of a FujiFinepix S6500 which I'm really enjoying for the quality of the raw (and RAW) images and the manual control over what I'm doing.

I have been taking digital photos for about 3 years now and am totally hooked. I had a friend who once said that people without an obsession are dull. I enjoy taking and viewing many styles of photography but prefer the real to the set-up in general. Not sure if I have a style at the moment (as most of my fav photogs do) but it leans away from portraiture usually.
